Charlotte Mason

ROSSVILLE Charlotte Vaughn Mason, 73, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 21, 2013, in the loving comfort of her family. Born March 12, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tenn. she was the daughter of the late John Worsham Vaughn and Edith Gilreath Vaughn.Charlotte fought a courageous battle with the grace and dignity that exemplified the way she lived her life. To the end, she never lost her fighting spirit and sense of humor. Charlotte graduated from the University of Tennessee (Chattanooga) and immediately began her 43 years as a beloved teacher at The Bright School. She had been an avid member of The Daughters of the Confederacy, The Chattooga County Historical Society, as well as both local chapters of the Rose and Iris Societies.Charlotte is survived by her husband of 51 years, Henry B. Mason III, Rossville; daughter, Ellen E. Mason, Alpharetta; son, John L. Mason (wife Angie Watts Mason); and grandchildren Bailey and Callie Mason, all of Ringgold.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe Brown officiating.
