Laura Tinker

Laura Sabin Tinker, 92, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at her Lookout Valley home.Laura Tinker grew up on the Grant dairy farm in Lookout Valley where she was known to be spirited and independent. Initially, she worked in sales with Miller Brothers and then, Lovemans. Later, she pursued a second career in catering, retiring at 81. She delighted many area brides with elaborate cakes and elegant food displays. When she wasnt decorating a cake, she was designing her flower garden. She loved to use the bounty from her flower and vegetable gardens to set a pretty table and have the family over for Sunday dinner. She was a member of Central Church of Christ.Laura was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Cora Sabin; brothers, Howard Sabin Jr. and Lillard Sabin; sisters, Maude Breedlove and Opal Sabin; and special nephew, Mike Sabin.She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvel W. Tinker; daughters, Marianne (Bill) Helton and Cindy (Barton) Close; grandchildren, Carrie (Adam) Brannon, William Cavin Helton, Gerald (Courtney) Helton, Caitlin Close and Walter Close; and great-grandson, Andrew Brannon.The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Minister David Schonhoff officiating.Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 15, 2013, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the funeral home.Pallbearers will be her nephews: Jimmy Breedlove, Robert Breedlove, Fred Breedlove, Larry Breedlove, Donald Breedlove and Doug Breedlove.Please share your condolences at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S.
