June Frazier

TAYLORS, S.C. June Baird Frazier died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at her home in Taylors, S.C.Mrs. Frazier was a native of Newport, Tenn. The daughter of Winston and Laura Stokely Baird, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She was a member of ALPHA OMICRON PI Sorority.Mrs. Frazier was married to the late Jack Gillespie Frazier of Dayton, Tenn., in 1948 and lived there until Mr. Fraziers untimely death in 1974. She was a member of First Methodist Church, City School Board, Library Board, Chairman of Rhea County Red Cross Hospital Auxiliary and the Director of the first migrant school in the area.In 1975 she moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed at the American Enterprise Institute. After serving as a volunteer for the Carter-Mondale campaign and working at the DNC Convention in New York, she was made a member of the Issues Staff. In 1977 Mrs. Frazier was appointed coordinator of the East Wing of the White House. One of her duties was to supervise special tours of the White House for VIPs, dignitaries and celebrities and Embassy officials and guests.After four years she moved to the Department of States Protocol Division, Ceremonies Section. This appointment included helping in New York with the Secretary of States scheduling during the General Sessions meeting at the United Nations Assembly, helping new ambassadors while presenting their credentials to the president at the White House, and updating the "Customs and Courtesies" booklet for use by government, military, embassies and corporations.Mrs. Frazier returned to Tennessee to be Department of State Protocol Consultant for the 1982 World's Fair. She moved to Lookout Mountain, Tenn., in 1985 and later to Heritage Landing. She was a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church, former member of Fairyland Club and Walden Club. She was a volunteer in several local outreach agencies, including Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Red Cross, Room in the Inn, Family and Children Services and the churchs Inner City program.Survivors are dearly loved sons, James Baird Frazier, of Taylors, S.C. and David Winston Frazier, of Knoxville; two special daughters-in-law, Sylvia Smith Frazier and Louise Rodgers Frazier; and three delightful grandchildren, Andrew, Molly and Laura.Funeral services will be at Buttram Cemetery in Dayton, Tenn. at 2 p.m. today.Memorial contributions may be made to First-Centenary United Methodist Church or favorite charity.The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton.ANCORA IMPARO
