William Humphreys

William "Bill" Grady Humphreys, 90, passed away on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was of the Baptist faith. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII on board the U.S.S. Brennan and retired from Chattanooga Gas Co. after 40 yrs. of employment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel G. and Minnie Thompson Humphreys; wives, Anna Frances Norton Humphreys and Lillian Cooke Humphreys; son, Larry Humphreys; sisters, Ama Nell Dill and Zelma Dill; and brothers, Jack Humphreys, Floyd Humphreys and Charles Humphreys. Bill is survived by his son, Ron Humphreys; sister, Lillian Barrett; brothers, David Humphreys and Marvin Humphreys; grandchildren, Shannon Jones and Scott Humphreys; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. Arrangements by W. L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
