James DeFur

McDONALD James Arthur DeFur, 65, a lifelong resident of McDonald, passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in the VA hospital in Nashville. James was born on June 23, 1948 a son of the late George DeFur. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country during the Vietnam era. In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bob Pevehouse. James leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Virginia Pevehouse, of McDonald; two daughters, Tracie Peters and her husband, Mathew, of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., Stacy "Alex" Defur, of Dayton, Tenn.; one son, Jeffrey Chambers and wife, Piper, of Joshua, Texas; five grandchildren, Kahne and Zane Chambers, of Joshua, Texas, Walter Peters, of Winthrop Harbor, Ill. and Damien and Lexi DeFur, both of Dayton, Tenn.; two sisters, Jerry DeFur and Joyce DeFur, both of Cleveland, Tenn. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members and friends. A celebration of his life is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, Tenn. The family will receive friends in the parlor from noon until the 2 p.m. service time. The service will conclude with military honors.
