Cleo Ferrell

Cleo Ellis Ferrell, 99, of South Pittsburg, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at her home. The daughter of the late Nathaniel and Myrtle May Ellis, she was a graduate of Marion County High School and worked as a seamstress for Pittsburg Knitting Mill in South Pittsburg for 20 years. She was a matriarch of First Baptist Church, South Pittsburg where she was an active volunteer, especially in the nursery, for many years. She was also a master quilter and an avid sports enthusiast with a passion for football. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Ferrell; and son, James Dudley Ferrell. She is survived by her children, Roy (Linda) Ferrell, of South Pittsburg, Carolyn Ferrell, of Big Canoe, Ga., Martha (Tim) Rash of Jasper, Tenn., and Rosemary Beck, of South Pittsburg; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. CSTon Thursday, Dec. 12, with the Rev. Charlie Campbell and the Rev. Brad Bridgman officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-9 p.m. CST today, December 11, 2013, at the funeral home.
