Tommy Saylors

Tommy Wayne Saylors, 61, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A retired employee of TVA and US Gypsum, he was also a former employee of the Jasper Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff's Department. He was of the Baptist faith and is remembered for his one-of-a-kind, gentle nature. He was preceded in death by his father, Reno Saylors; step-father, Chester Holder; and grandparents, Jeff and Ada Mayfield and George and Minerva Saylors. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Mayfield Holder; wife, Lila Saylors, of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; son, Jeff (Amy) Saylors, of Bryant, Ala.; step-children, Candy Williams, Arleana McCafferty and Dell Jackson, all of Athens, Ala.; brother, Mack (Sheila) Saylors, of Stevenson, Ala.; sister, Vickie Saylors, of South Pittsburg; eight grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousin, Janice Goins; and his beloved Pomeranian, Smokey. A memorial service will be held at Richard City Baptist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. Central time. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
