Ida Mae Houston

Ida Mae Houston, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 17, 2013, at a local healthcare facility. She was a member of Miracle Baptist Church. Ida was born in Five Points, Ala., and lived in Chattanooga for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Moses and Carrie Allen; daughter, Irene Houston; brothers, Jessie L. Allen, of Roanoke, Ala., and John W. Allen, of Chattanooga; sisters, Emma Darden Burgess, Clara Jackson and Lillie Mae Keller, all of Chattanooga. She is survived by her son, Jesse (Joan) Houston; grandson, Jesse Houston Jr.; nieces, Annie and Linda Darden, Johnnie Lee Allen, all of Chattanooga and other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at Forest Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Jacks officiating. The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
