Ella Ware

Ella Mae Ware (Hand), 86, peacefully passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 in Chattanooga, Tenn. She was born July 21, 1927 in Roanoke, Ala. She retired from Erlanger Hospital after 30 plus years of service. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Howard Hand; mother, Gertie Strickland; brother, Charlie Will Hand; son, Eddie Paul Ware, and son-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" H. Knox. She is survived by her sister, Ernestine Ware, Roanoke, Ala.; brother-in-law, Eugene Ware, LaGrange, Ga.; daughter, Norma Jean Ware Knox; sons, William P. "Billy" Ware, Jr., Allen Ware, Randolph Ware, Derris (Beverly) Ware, and Arlandis (Renea) Ware, all of Chattanooga. She also is survived by 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Service will be held Monday, Dec. 23, at Noon at John P. Franklin Funeral Home Chapel, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995. Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state today after Noon and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m.
