Phil Wehman

Charles Philip "Phil" Wehman, 85, died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013. Phil was born in 1928 in Union City, Tenn., to Roy Cecil Wehman and Martha McAlister Wehman. He graduated form Union City High School and was an Eagle Scout. After high school, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. Phil graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a bachelor of science in industrial engineering and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Phil was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He worked for DuPont and was a charter member and president of the Chattanooga American Institute of Industrial Engineers chapter, president of the Chattanooga Industrial Personnel Club, president of the Hamilton County Chapter of the UT Alumni Association, and member of the UT Alumni Board of Governors. Until his death, he was an active member of the International Society of Antique Scale Collectors. Phil was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, George Anna Hearn Wehman. Phil is survived by his daughter, Melissa Wehman, of Chattanooga; son Philip Wehman and wife Karen, of Fishers, Ind.; grandchildren Mark and Carolyn Wehman, of Fishers, Ind.; brother Roy Wehman, of Union City, Tenn. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 28, at St. Luke United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel and from 1-2 p.m. today, at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Interment to follow to Hamilton Memorial Gardens Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3210 Social Circle, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
