Shelvy Shannon

Shelvy Louise Young Shannon, 75, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. A native of Millstone, Ky., she has lived in the North Georgia area for the past 56 years. She was a former employee of Catoosa County Board of Education where she worked for 23 years at Cloud Springs Elementary in the cafeteria and was a member of Chickamauga Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Shannon; parents, Russ and Bessie Powell Young; and two brothers, Hermen and Harry Young. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Amanda Shannon, of Rossville.; sister-in-law, Jane Young, of Rossville; niece, Becky Young and nephew, Alan Young. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday Dec. 30, 2013, in the funeral home chapel with Minister Shane Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday until funeral time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has setup a fund in her name.
