Walter Fannin

Walter Leon Fannin, 93, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at his home. He moved to Rising Fawn in 1947 where he owned a local grocery store. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army WWII serving overseas during the European Theatre. He was retired from the Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Commission where he served for many years. Mr. Fannin was an active member of Trenton United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was preceded in death by Flora Fannin. Surviving include wife, Louise Fannin, one sister, Mary Hartfield; one nephew; and a loving church family. The family would like to give a special thanks to Michele Holifield of Life Choice Hospice and caregiver Beverly Pemberton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Trenton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6, Trenton, GA 30752. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Trenton United Methodist Church with Rev. Reece Fauscett officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. today at Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton, Ga., and one hour prior to service time on Sunday at Trenton United Methodist Church.
