Marjean Gingrich

Marjean Larson Gingrich, born Marjean Alice Larson, passed away in her home in Longmont, Colo. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013.She is survived by her daughter, Ann Michele Gingrich, of New Orleans, La., and son, Matthew Alan Gingrich, of Boulder, Colo.; her brothers, Gary Larson, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Alan Larson, of Chattanooga; along with many loving nieces and nephews.She was preceded by her father, Carl Larson; and mother, Alice Southard Larson.Marjean was born in Lincoln, Neb. on June 19, 1941, where she attended and graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1959. She married Charles "Mike" Gingrich in 1961 and lived in various locations as an Air Force wife, during which she became an advocate and spokesperson for the families of Air Force personnel. She eventually settled in Beavercreek, Ohio, where they raised their daughter and son and earned a B.A. and M.A. from Wright State University. She worked for over 20 years as a Victims Advocate for the Greene County Prosecutors office, where she, among various positions, served a term as president of the Ohio Victim Witness Association. Marjean was highly regarded in her field and enjoyed the company of many friends and colleagues. After retiring from work, she relocated to Chattanoogaand more recently located to Colorado, to be near her son.Marjean was a lifelong Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, often to the dismay of her Ohio State Buckeye children. She was known for her compassion and dedication, but also for her sense of humor and sarcastic wit. Over the years, she also enjoyed the company of many faithful dachshund companions. She was also a self-taught gourmet chef, enjoyed classic movies, and reading presidential biographies. Marjean was loved by many and will be missed by all.Memorial services will be held at Havelock United Methodist Church, 4140 N 60th St., in Lincoln, Neb. at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, followed by a private interment at Lincoln Memorial Park.There will also be a memorial service in Xenia, Ohio in the near future.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Marjeans name be made to the National Organization for Victim Assistance.
