Henry Rotters

Henry John Rotters passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Alexian Village. He was born in Shelton, Conn. on Oct. 8, 1918, to Fredericka Meyer and Otto Henry Rotters.He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.He was retired as Major from the United States Army Chemical Corps. He served overseas in WWII and in the U.S. Army Reserve.A graduate of Philadelphia University, Henry was an Industrial Chemist. He was a former member of American Associates of Textile Chemists and Colorists; Elks Lodge of Dalton, GA; Reserve Officers Association; Red Cross Volunteer and Boy Scouts of America Troop Leader.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Virginia Hurlock Rotters, his second wife, Mary C. St. Cin Rotters; and a brother, William H. Rotters.Survivors include his daughter, Constance Rotters (Charles) Blake; two sons, Richard John (Gail) Rotters and Lawrence Joseph (Betsy) Rotters; sister, Dorothy Rotters Hult; grandchildren, Jamie Rotters (Louis) Morton, Lauren Rotters (Jared) Kolter and Alison Rotters as well as great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father James Vick officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
