Elbert Morris

HOMOSASSA, Fla. Elbert Morris Howard, 85, passed away on Saturday July 6, 2013 in a Lawrenceville, Ga., hospice facility.Elbert was a graduate of Chattanooga Central High School, University of Chattanooga, and was director of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency. He served his country with service in the U.S. Army from 1946 until 1974 retiring with the rank of Major.Elbert and his wife Barbara were married in and members of Northside Presbyterian Church.Elbert was preceded in death by his son Stephen Howard.Survivors include his wife of 65 years Barbara Young Howard; son Richard (Janice) Howard of Lilburn, Ga.; daughter Melinda Howard Bell, of Wichita KS; sister Pat Ellis Dixon, of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren Christi Howard Duffey, of Hoschton, Ga.; Stephanie Bell Nash and Robert Bell, of Wichita, KS; great grandchildren April and Andrew Duffey, Kataunna, Isabella, Ryun Nash; several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.Advantage Funeral Cremation Services Franklin Strickland Pinkard Bryan Smith Funeral Directors 1724 McCallie Ave 423-265-4414 is honored to be serving the Howard family.
