Johnny Fults

ALTAMONT Johnny Earl Fults, 82, passed away at his home Friday July 19, 2013, with his family at his side.He was born in New Market, Ala., to Robert Lee "Bob" Fults and Pearl Payne Fults who preceded him in death along with his wife of 51 years, Adell Campbell Fults; brothers, Carl and Fred Fults; sisters, Bertha Hobbs, Wilda Brown and Ethelene Fults.He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 16 on June 22, 1948 and was trained at Fort Jackson, S.C. to be a tank operator with the Tank Co 3rd BN 6th Armed Calvary Regiment. He was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church, the Grundy County Rescue Squad, Altamont Fire Department, Life member of the VFW at Monteagle, machinist for 45 years and Constable for the last 16 years of his life.He is survived by his son, Geary Fults, Chattanooga; daughters, Joan Fults, Teresa (Ronnie) Scissom and Marsha (Mason) Nunley, Altamont, Peggy Fults, Nashville; sisters, Nancy Northcutt and Sue Nunley; brothers, Vernon (Brenda), Howard (Judy), Harvey "Wiggle" (Kay), Donnie (Brenda) and Roy "Bitty" (Lisa) Fults; grandchildren, Mandy (Casey) Shrum, Nathan (Ashley) Nunley, Jonathan and Justin Fults, Chelsea (Justin) King, Lynn Fults, Macie Nunley; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Ian, Abigail, Jathan and Zoey; a host of nieces and nephews; very special caregiver, Ashley West.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Don Hill and Brother Howard Fults officiating with burial to follow in Fults Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.Visitation: noon-10 p.m. today at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tenn. www.laynefuneralhome.com.
