Eugene Patterson

CHICKAMAUGA Eugene "Pat" Patterson, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 21, 2013.He was born in High Point, N.C. to the late, Julius and Nellie Patterson and then moved to the Chickamauga area in 1965. He attended Peavine Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Industries in 1986 after more than 35 years of service as a truck driver. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying, watching NASCAR and loved country music especially bluegrass. He was a loving and devoted, husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Irvin, Osco, Luther and Hason Patterson and two sisters, Lorita Abbott and Mae Martin.Survivors include his loving wife of more than 65 years, Dorothy Mae Patterson, of Chickamauga; three children and spouses, Lloyd Patterson, of Ringgold, Ga., Regina (Paul) Richardson, of Rossville, and Tommy (Faye) Patterson, of Chatsworth, Ga.; two sisters, Helen Lashley, of Rome, Ga., and Gladys Osborn, of Lynchburg, Va.; three grandsons, Neil, Lance and Nicholas Richardson; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Dr. Steve Anthony officiating.Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. EST in East Ellijay Baptist Cemetery.The family will begin receiving friends after 2 p.m. today and prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peavine Baptist Church, 1089 Peavine Road, Rock Spring, GA 30739 706-375-4721.Online guest book at www.wilsonfuneralhome.comArrangements by W.
