Clyde Matthews

Clyde "Stan" Matthews, 81, of Ooltewah, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013. A native of Scottsboro, Ala., he was the son of the late Clyde and Pearl Matthews, but has been a resident of the Chattanooga area most of his life. He attended Greenwood Baptist Church and was retired from Combustion Engineering and was also part owner in Loumac Exterminating Company. He was a member of the Hill City Masonic Lodge, F&AM #603. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Wilson, San Diego, Calif., and Kay Bolles, Ooltewah; son Mark Matthews, Ooltewah; two step-daughters, Vicki Bates, Chattanooga and Melanie Heath, Savannah, Ga.; four grandchildren; brother, David Matthews, Decatur, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday June 25, in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Toby Brogden officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family asked that no flowers be sent to the funeral home, but instead make a memorial contribution to Missionary, Flavio Varelo, c/o Charlotte Pritchett, 261 Cochran Road, Chatsworth, GA 30705. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
