Mazie Lavender

Mazie Louise Brown Lavender passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at her home.She was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Luxora, Ark., moving early to Gadsden, Ala. She will be loved and remembered for her kindness of heart. Mazies passion was gardening.She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Dixon; brothers, Hollis and Ellis Brown; and sisters, Dolly Hood and Linda Stapleton.Mazie was a lifelong resident of Red Bank and was retired from Answering Chattanooga as manager with 26 years of service.She is survived by her five children, Ronald Lavender, Jack Lavender, Jimmy (Francine) Lavender, Steven Lavender, and Janice Lavender (John) Tolbert; grandchildren, Kelly Smith, Thomas Smith and Raven Lavender Jenkins, all of Chattanooga; great-grandsons, Braden Jenkins and Kale Smith; and brothers and sisters.The family wishes to thank the physicians and especially, Nurse Kathy Smallwood and the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for their care during Mazie's illness.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Beginnings Walter E.
