Ted Engel

DAYTON Theodore Albert Engel Sr., 88, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton.He was born July 15, 1924 in Allegan, Mich. to the late Albert and Lola Miller Engel. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann (Visscher) Engel; son, Larry Roberts; granddaughter, Jennifer Basile; brother, Lloyd Engel; and sister, Mary Lou Engel.Ted served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. A resident of Dayton for the past 32 years, Ted retired as vice-president of La-Z-Boy in Dayton. He was a member of the Dayton Rotary Club and a member of the First Lutheran Church of Cleveland. He is survived by his son, Ted (Marilyn) Engel; two daughters, Ann Marie (Bobby) Perry and Mary (Bill) Knierim all of Dayton; grandchildren, Bill (Chasity) Knierim Jr., Bobby Basile, Stefanie McAllister, Ted (Ashley) Engel III, Erik (Tracy) Roberts, Ted (Lindsey) Roberts, Jeremiah(Melanie) Perry and Tim Perry; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Pat) Engel, of Douglas, Mich.; and sister, Patsy Hopper, of Sanibel Island, Fla.Funeral services for Ted will be held at noon Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
