Charles Henson

Charles B. "Chuck" Henson, 67, of Ringgold, Ga., and formerly of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Murphy, N.C., died Friday, April 26, 2013.The son of J.V. and Hazel Henson, he was the middle child of five siblings. He was an Army Veteran selected to attend the Army Engineer Officer Candidate Regiment and served in Korea on the DMZ during the turbulent Vietnam War era. After discharge, he worked as a carpenter, a trade learned from his father, and an iron worker. Together with his brother, he owned and operated a successful business for more than 34 years in the Atlanta area. He embraced adventures of all kind, including skiing, cycling, motorcycling, ridge-walking, caving and rappelling. He was devoted to his family, and they felt his love and attention in every way. He was generous and compassionate. He was a loyal and lifelong friend. He was active in the caving community through cave search and rescue and conservancy efforts.He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Patty; his daughters, Tania and Trudy; and his grandson, Eli.
