Barbara Dansby

CLEVELAND Barbara Jo Dansby passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.She was born on Nov. 8, 1937 in Miami, Fla., to the late Rev. Dewey Herndon and June Taylor Herndon. Barbara was a member of Mount Olive Church of God in Cleveland. As a young woman she attended Lee Academy, the high school division of Lee College. She was a loving and caring pastors wife for 40 years with her husband, Gary, in Florida. In addition to being a devoted spouse, she was a church musician, past president of Christian womens club, and will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by one sister, Darlene Herndon.She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 56 years, Rev. Gary Dansby, of Cleveland; mother, June Taylor Herndon, of Fort Pierce, Fla.; brother, Bo Herndon, of Fort Pierce; three sons, Rev. Dale Dansby, of Mayo, Fla., and wife, Debbie, Duane Dansby, of Zebulon, Ga., and wife, Rene, Kevin Dansby, of Cleveland and wife, Kristen; nephew, Greg Herndon ,of LeHigh Acres, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.The family will receive friends at Mount Olive Church of God located at 3522 Harrison Pike, Cleveland, TN 37311 from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday May 4, 2013.A funeral service will be held on Sunday May 5, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the church.Interment will immediately follow the service at Mount Olive Church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials and donations be made in Barbaras name to Lee University Department of Music.You are invited to share a personal memory of Barbara or your condolences with her family at her online guestbook located at www.companionfunerals.com.Companion Funeral & Cremation Service & the Cody family are honored to assist the Dansby family with these arrangements.
