Sr.Daniel Thomas Christian Sr., 68, of Hixson, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013, at his residence.Mr. Christian was a devoted husband of 48 years and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Delashmitt Road Baptist Church. Daniel was a Captain with the Chattanooga Fire Department where he served his community for 33 years. He devoted his life to giving and serving others through all aspects of life. His lifes mission was to serve God, family and his community.Mr. Christian was preceded in death by his mother, Theleretta Mae Christian.Survivors include his wife of 48 wonderful years, Faye Christian; sons, Daniel Thomas Christian Jr. (Jill Mitchell) and Joey Green IV; daughters, Paula Floyd (Austin), Carla Christian Blancett, Donna Christian Lowe (J. Marty Lowe) and Anna Marie Christian; grandchildren, Brandon Reisman, Bethany Blancett, Jacob Blancett, Bailey Reisman, Mason Kennedy Lowe, Alex Mitchell and Aaden Thomas Christian; great-grandchild, Liam Cain Blancett and special extended family, Dan Blake and family.Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Delashmitt Road Baptist Church with the Honorable Judge Clarence Shattuck, Daniels son-in-law, J. Marty Lowe and Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating.Mr. Christian will lie in state at the church from noon to 2 p.m. today.Burial will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Chattanooga Fire Department Color Guard serving as pallbearers. Grandchildren and other family will serve as honorary pallbearers.
