Kathe Aussner

Katharina "Kathe" Karolina Johanna Wilhelmine Saemann Aussner died Friday, May 10, 2013 in a local retirement facility following a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born Jan. 28, 1923 in Pirmasens, Germany. Kathe Aussner was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always showed the highest level of selflessness. She possessed a kind and gentle soul which was exhibited by the love she displayed to her family. After World War II, she studied nursing at Marienhohe in Darmstadt, Germany where she met her future husband. Following graduation, she and her husband spent time in Jordan as missionaries, ultimately immigrating to Tennessee via Canada and Michigan. In 1990 she retired from McKee Baking Company as manager of quality control to spend time with her husband, her grandchildren and to tend her garden.She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolf Aussner; her father, Karl Saemann; her mother, Katharina Wilhelmina Scherph Saemann; and a brother, Karl Saemann.Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Aussner Dickerson; a son in law, Lee Dickerson; grandson, Christopher Dickerson; granddaughter, Katherine Dickerson; brother, Otto Saemann and his wife Irmgard, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; sister-in-law, Rosel Helfman, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday May 13, at Collegedale Memorial Park in lieu of Gardens, with Carl Marlin officiating.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family and view the memorial tribute.The family will receive friends Monday from 3-5 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E.
