Geraldine Burkhart

Geraldine McKee Burkhart, of Hixson, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. She was 69 years old.Geraldine was born on Dec. 3, 1943 in Ooltewah to the late Jennie Belle and Raymond McKee. She retired from State Farm Life Insurance with over 30 years of service and was the owner and operator of The Wig Palace on Ringgold Road. Geraldine was a very active member of the Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church in Ooltewah.She was also preceded in death by her brother, Herschel McKee; and a sister, Barbara McKee Leamon.Geraldine is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, William E. "Bill" Burkhart; children, Kim Palmer Gann, Kenneth Rush "Pete" (Romona) Palmer and Landa Raquel Ledford. She leaves behind nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray, David and Charles McKee; and a sister, Wilma McDaniel; and many nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday at the North Chapel.Services for Geraldine will be held at noon on Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Jack Rinks officiating.Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
