Edith Sweeton

Mrs. Edith "Tabby" Sweeton, 95, passed away at the home of her daughter Saturday Nov. 2, 2013. She was born in Palmer, Tenn., on Feb. 15, 1918 to Hence and Rosa Fults Layne who preceded her in death along with her husband, Ernest Sweeton; brothers, Pascal, Orace and Lee Layne; sisters, Mildred Ross, Nola Henderson, Clara Layne, Hester King and Fairy Mae Layne; grandsons, Eddy Wayne Turner and James Ernest Cawley; 2 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Jimmy, Jerry (Jeweldean) and Jackie Sweeton; daughters, Jewel Gipson, Jean (Kenneth) Turner, Joyce (Robert) Cawley and Janice Nolan; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 5, in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery.
