Elmoore Rorex

Elmoore Leroy Rorex, 87, died peacefully at his home Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Charlotte Cloud Rorex; son, Glenn (Bonnie) Rorex, of Bridgeport; daughter, Jane (Larry) Holland; granddaughter, Angie (Mark) Sutton; and grandson, Jeff (Colette) Holland, all of Dutton; and grandson, David Walker, of Rossville; sisters, Joan (J.B.) Hagan, of Huntsville and Martha Vaughn, of Bryant; sisters-in-law, Patsy Rorex, of Bridgeport, Dot (Billy) Bean, of Stevenson, and Betty Cloud, of Clarksville, Tenn.; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Bertha Poe Rorex; brother, Tommy Rorex; and brothers-in-law, Ted Cloud and Chester Vaughn. Mr. Rorex retired from TVA after working as a cost accountant for 33 1/2 years at Widows Creek Steam Plant and Bellefonte Nuclear Plant construction site. He has also worked for Spencer Wayne Plumbing, Sears Roebuck, Bridgeport Housing Authority, and the First National Bank, and has been a substitute school bus driver for the Bridgeport area. He was a member of Stevenson Church of Christ. He served in the army with his best friend, Edward "Goat" Raulston at Camp Joseph T. Robinson in Little Rock, Ark.; and was a member of the American Legion. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. CST today, from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Rudders Funeral Home in Bridgeport. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with ministers Dale Andrews and Randy Smith officiating. Interment will be at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tenn. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post from Jasper. His favorite charity is the Bridgeport Church of Christ World Mission Fund.
