Virginia Jo Hodge

Virginia Jo Scott Hodge, formerly of Sale Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, from injuries she received in an automobile accident. She was 80 years old. Virginia Jo was born in Sale Creek and attended Sale Creek High School. Virginia was a longtime member of Sale Creek Church of God, where she sang, enjoyed the blessings of the church and praising her Lord and Savior. She sang with her late mother, a trio at the church and in the choir. Virginia Jo later moved to Arab, Ala., and attended Arab Assembly of God where she continued to sing and praise her Lord. Virginia was very active in blessing many people with her God given talent of singing at nursing homes and restaurants. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mattie Fuller Scott; and a brother, Charles Albert Scott. Virginia Jo is survived by her husband of 65 years, Homer Hodge; children, Jan (Tom) Bruce Sr., of Sale Creek, Shelia (David) Long, of Chesnee, S.C., and April (Dan) Osborn, of Arab, Ala.; grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Alazzam, Tommy (Tiffany) Bruce Jr., Jeremy David Long, Jennifer Michelle Long, Clinton (Miranda) Smith and Lauren Brooke Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Jim) Gill; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. today at Sale Creek Church of God. A celebration of Virginia Jos life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sale Creek Church of God, 14919 Dayton Pike in Sale Creek, TN 37373, with the Rev. Austin Thomas Ball, Bishop Kenneth Bolton and Pastor Terry Bolton officiating. Burial will follow in Welch-Rogers Cemetery. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.
