Michael Hendon

Jerry Michael Hendon, 58, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Nov.18, 2013, in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1955, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to the late Hershel and Helen Marie Hendon. He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Alabama and was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a member of the Manker Patton Tennis Club. Mr. Hendon attended Concord Baptist Church in Chattanooga and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Jasper, Ala. He employed with TVA. for the past 11 years and prior to coming to Chattanooga was employed for more than 20 years with Drummond Coal Co. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Peggy Sue Hendon; son, Kyle Hendon, of Chattanooga; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Brandon Harper, of Atlanta; three brothers, Steve (Gaye) Hendon and Sanford Hendon, both of Jasper, Ala.; and Greg (Angelia) Hendon, of Cullman, Ala.; one sister, Tina (Roy) Reed, of McCalla, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Northside Baptist Church in Jasper, Ala., with Rev. David Byrd and Rev. Delmus Anthony officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. CST at Northside Baptist Church.
