May Streiter

May Streiter, 98, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013. She was born and raised in New York City. Sadly, both her parents died at an early age. There were three sisters which she helped raise. May worked for the Chase Manhatten Bank in New York City, for 27 loyal years. She prided herself with the fact that in all those years she never made a clerical error with all the overseas military accounts she managed. In 1970 she and her husband, Dave, retired to Century Village in West Palm Beach, Fla. Those were her most happy years. Dave passed away in June of 1999. We brought mom to Chattanooga 11 years ago. She resided at Creekside Retirement Community. She had many friends and admirers there. Survivors include two sons, Bob and Richard; daughters-in-law, Doris Streiter and Vickki Brabero; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to acknowledge Hospice of Chattanooga for their superior care and dedication. Also our heartfelt thanks to care giver, Terri Howe for the loving care she also provided to mom. A graveside service will be conducted by Rabbi Susan Kendler at 11:30 a.m. today at Bnai Zion Cemetery in Red Bank. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416. There will be a memorial service at noon Saturday at Creekside Retirement Community, 7511 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Please share your memories at ChattanoogaValleyViewChapel.com. Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
