Elaine Searcy

SOUTH PITTSBURG Elaine Searcy, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.The daughter of the late W.A. and Nettie Blevins Searcy, she retired from TVA having worked as a secretary and later as a Nuclear Inspector.She was a longtime member of Chattanooga First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Following her retirement, she returned to Richard City and rejoined Richard City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher, member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women, served as a deacon and was recognized as a Golden Patron (signifying 50 years of service to the church). She was also a past-president of the Hamilton County Republican Women, loved to travel and had been all over the world. She volunteered at the Jasper Public Library and demonstrated her love of country through her active support of many veterans organizations. Elaines life was defined by her love of her faith, family and her many friends.She was also preceded in death by brothers, John, Bob and Carl Searcy; sister, Ann Searcy Dietzen; and nephew, Jim Searcy.She is survived by nieces and nephews, John (Sally) Searcy Jr., Teresa Searcy (Jay) Johnston, both of Chattanooga, Joe (Christie) Searcy, of Ringgold, Ga., Lora (Barry) Slaton, of Cumming, Ga., Julia (Mike) Searcy-Ortega, of Albuquerque, N.M., David Dietzen, of South Pittsburg, Roger (Cindy) Searcy, of Nashville, and Matthew (Doralee) Searcy, of Huntsville, Ala.; devoted friends, Jane (Jerry) Kennemore, of Kimball, Tenn., and Amelia Hawk, of Crossville, Tenn.; and the many friends whose lives she touched.Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, with Rev. Carlton Harper and Rev. Cliff Hudson officiating.Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. CDT today, Oct. 1.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Richard City Cumberland Presbyterian Memorial Fund, 1706 Marion Ave., South Pittsburg, TN 37380.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.rogersfuneralhome.com.
