Cora Cookston

DUNLAP Cora Lou "Aunt Lukie" Frizzell Cookston, 78, died peacefully Friday morning, Oct. 11, 2013 after a very courageous battle with cancer. Cora Lou was preceded in death by her parents, David and Marilda Smith Frizzell; sons, Kirk Cookston and an infant son, Lance Eric Cookston.She was a member of Daus church of Christ. She was a retired Business woman being manager of a finance and mortgage company. She founded the Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network and helped many, many cancer patients. She organized and participated in several fund-raisers to make money to help cancer patients. Cora Lou put together a HEE-HAW program several years ago and has grown so much they have to perform 3 nights now.Survivors include her husband of 56 years, J. C. Cookston, Dunlap; daughter, Deb (Paul) Hunter, Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Billie Sue (Olan) Mooneyham, Brenda Dean (Norman) Cookston and Yuvonne Jean Cookston; a special friend like a sister, Winna Greene Bessey, all of Dunlap; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CDT Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Sequatchie County High School with ministers David Swanger officiating. Burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers, David and Ray Swanger, Gary, Larry and Derrick Mooneyham, Brett, Mark and Mike Cookston, Darrell Johnson and Anthony Sanders. Honorary pallbearers are members of HEE-HAW cast and officers and board members of Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network. The family will receive friends from Noon to 8 p.m. CDT today and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT Sunday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network, P.O.
