Ruby Little

KINGSPORT Ruby N. Little, 92, peacefully passed away at Holston Manor on Tuesday Oct. 22, 2013 after a brief illness.Born Sept. 9, 1921 in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Claude B. and May Belle Barnes Norris. Ruby grew up in Chattanooga, married and resided in Columbus, Ga., for several years. After moving home to Chattanooga she became a faithful member of Avondale Baptist Church, where she sang with the Happy Larks choir and became involved with many other functions of the church.She was a wife, devoted mother of four children, a homemaker for many years and retired from J.C. Pennys after 10 years. She also worked for the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, was a former Boy and Girl Scout leader and worked at Dawn School with mentally and physically challenged children which she truly enjoyed. She loved her children, her animals, her African Violets. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed singing.She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Ace, Harold and Edward Norris; son, George Guy Little; three granddaughters, Cheri Trimble, Stephanie Dial, Lora Little; and one grandson, Philip Dial.She is survived by a sister, Katherine Broyles, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; children, William L. Little, Jr. (Priscilla), of Mt. Carmel, Tenn., Rebecca A. Travis (Vance), of Signal Mt., Tenn., and Mary K. Dial (Steven), of Greer, SC.; Ruby has twelve grandchildren, Dana Trimble, of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Jill T. Elliott, of Greenville, S.C., Suzette L. Holly, of West Palm, Fla., Chris Little, of West Palm, Fla., Bethany Beard, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Jonathan Little, Brandon Little, of Colorado, Bethany Dotson, of Georgia, David Dial and Melody Dial, of Greer, S.C.; and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from Noon to 1 p.m. on Monday Oct. 28, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. A service will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robert Cox of Greer SC officiating.Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Little family.
