Henry Millsaps

Sr.ROME Henry Lamar Millsaps Sr., 85, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, in a Rome hospital.Mr. Millsaps was born in Harrison, on June 5, 1928, the son of the late John Henry Millsaps and Virginia Haney Millsaps. He was a 1940 graduate of Baylor School in Chattanooga, and attended the University of Tennessee. Mr. Millsaps retired from Motors Insurance Co. He served as a volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity, Star House, Good Neighbors Ministries, Meals on Wheels, and Carpenters for Christ. Mr. Millsaps was a past nominee for the Heart of the Community Service Award. He was a member of North Broad Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Millsaps served in the Army National Guard.Survivors include his devoted wife of 63 years, Mina Pickett Millsaps, of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Henry Lamar Millsaps Jr. and Vickie Millsaps, of Cohutta, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Lydia Diane Millsaps Miller and Kenneth Miller of New York City, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Henry Seth Millsaps, Jordon Ellis Henry Millsaps, and Andrew Carnegie Miller; and a cousin, Patricia Reese, of Indianapolis, Ind.A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at 3 p.m. in the North Broad Baptist Church with Dr. Hugh C. Peacock, Rev. Micah Pritchett, and Mr. John Dyer officiating. Mr. Millsaps will lie-in-state at the church from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour.Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
