Laurel McFarlane

Laurel Maud McFarlane, 71, passed peacefully at home in her husbands arms and her sister by her side on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013. She was a member of Collegedale SDA Church.She was born to Ansurd and Ethel on Feb. 28, 1942, in Roehampton, Jamaica. She was the seventh of nine children and after losing their mother during childbirth, her older sister, Lucille, offered motherly care. Upon migrating to Nassau, Bahamas in 1968, she married her best friend, Lloyd McFarlane on Aug. 24, 1969. They had one daughter, Lorna, now Lorna May McFarland-Birch, MD. The family emigrated to Florida, USA in 1970 and later to New York.Laurel began then discontinued college, but later worked as a certified nursing assistant until 2005. She relocated to Ooltewah, to enjoy retirement and her wonderful grandchildren.She leaves to mourn , her husband, Lloyd; daughter, Lorna; grandchildren, Alexa, Dorian and Isaac; sisters, Lucille Cargill, Nellie Hall, Pansy Waite and Inett Elliott; brothers, Seaford, Maxie and Ivan Plummer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Collegedale SDA Church.
