Ira Ray

Ira Mae Taylor Barrett Ray, 85, died Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was born to the late James and Mary Norris Taylor. Also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Baxter Ray Sr.; daughter, Sandra Ann Barrett Jackson; and brother, Arnold Taylor. Ira Mae was a member of the Kensington Church of God. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Wright, of Cleveland, Tenn., Teresa Barrett, of LaFayette, Connie Starkey and husband Tony, of Trion and Shannon Barrett, of LaFayette; sons, Buddy Barrett Jr. and wife Ruth, Jackie Barrett, and Allen Barrett and Shaine Barrett, all of LaFayette; sister, Winnie Abbott, of Cave City, Ark.; brother, Ray Taylor , of Chickamauga; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great -grandchildren; step-children, Paulette Martin, of Chickamauga, Kathy Ferrell, of LaFayette, Paul Ray Jr., Gena Williamson, and Vanessa Pendley, all of Calhoun; 16 step-grandchildren, 26 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral from the Wallis Memorial Chapel today at 11 a.m. with Brother Dennis Chambers, the Rev. J.R. Abbott, and Paul Ray Jr. officiating. Pallbearers are Johnny Humphrey, Tony Starkey, Jason Starkey, Shaine Barrett, Chris Fowler, and Joe Fowler. Honorary pallbearers are Randell Abbott, Lebron Holden, Chris Edgar, Johnny Abbott, Paul Ray Jr., and Troy Elder. Interment in the LaFayette Memory Gardens.
