Melvin Butts

Melvin Dennis Butts was born June 1947 and God carried him home on Monday, April 7, 2014. He was baptized at Greater New Home Baptist Church, and later became a member of Olivet Baptist Church. He attended Howard High School and later received his GED. He retired as a chef from 212 Market Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maebell Butts; stepmother, Annie G. Butts; grandparents, Zack and Gertrude Butts; brother, John Wayne Butts and Minister Daryl Butts. His memories will be cherished by his father, Elder Jonas Butts; sisters, Rhonda Y. Williams and Nichelle Jean Sanders; brothers, Jimmy Butts, Recardo (Louis) Butts, Norfolk, Va., and Timekeus Butts; sister-in-law, Ariene Butts; aunts, Margaret Butts, Emma Petty and Ida Smith; uncles, Edell Butts, Tampa Fla., and Paul Smith; former wife and dear friend, Rosemary Anderson; goddaughter, Shacara Taylor; grandchildren; great -grandchildren; nieces, nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 , in the funeral home chapel, Pastor Kevin Adams Sr. officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by John P.
