Janet Bovell

Janet Palmes Bovell, 68, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her home. She was born to the late Jack and Jane Palmes in Pensacola, Fla. Jan received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Jan was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was actively involved with Brainerd Church. She was exceptionally charitable throughout her lifetime and supported many local organizations and schools. She will most likely be remembered for her ceaseless acts of random kindness towards family, friends and often total strangers. She loved birds and nature, and had a magnetic attraction to any baby or young child. In her youth, she was an accomplished equestrian show jumper. She later spent many years as a canine obedience trainer. Her love for all animals never waned. Jan loved and she was loved. She loved her family, friends, animals and gardens. Jan is survived by her daughter, Catherine G. Bovell; son, S. Greg Bovell and his wife, Wendy; son, Adrian T. Bovell and his wife, Amy; daughter, Brandis A. Bovell and her partner, Dustin White; granddaughters, Leslie Ann O'Dell and Abbygail Bovell, and grandson, Dawson Bovell; sister-in-law, Ann Palmes and nephew Andrew Palmes and his wife, Rhonda. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jim Palmes. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 27, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dennis W. Flaugher officiating.
