Barnett Hood

Barnet Hood, 96, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at his residence. Barnett was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Rhea County, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a member of the Dayton Four Square Church, loved reading the Bible and working in his garden. Preceded in death by his parents, Lee O. and Emma Fitzgerald Hood; three sisters, Altie Sharp, Katie Mickel, Marie Sneed; two brothers, Clyde Fitzgerald Sr. and Malcom Hood. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mable Potter Hood, ofDayton; a daughter, Peggy (Bill)Dillard of Dayton; two grandchildren, Kim (Jeff) Hollister, Kristi (Michael)James; four great-grandchildren, Tyler (Chauncey)Hollister, Megan Hollister, Kaleb James, Karli James; one great-great-grandchild, Sawyer Hollister; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald and Pastor Brian Conley officiating. Interment follows in Rhea Memory Garden.
