Mollie Elizabeth Cross Parker, 79, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014. Preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Parker; mother, Katie Day Cross Alexander; father and step-mother, Grady and Bertha Cross; and brother, Alton Cross. Survived by daughters, Teresa (Billy) Whitten of LaFayette, and Liz (Brad) Shields of Rome; son, Michael V. Parker of LaFayette; sisters, Betty Jones and Linda Farris; brothers, Dennis Alexander, Rev. Roland Cross, Max Cross, Paul Cross and Darrell Cross; grandchildren, Chad Whitten, Christina Peace, Jessica Parker, Mollie Wigley, Lauren Shields and Ashleigh Shields; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Noah, Eliah, Colbi, Avery and Arya; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral at 11 a.m. from the Wallis Memorial Chapel Monday, Aug. 11, with Rev. David Cross officiating. Interment in the LaFayette Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today, Aug. 10. Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
