Michael Frassrand

Michael A. Frassrand, 93, of Harrison, entered eternal life Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, with Charlyne his beloved wife of 70 years by his side. Throughout Michaels 40-year career at Combustion Engineering, he held many different positions in engineering and manufacturing management including starting up and managing three product lines: Nuclear Components Manufacturing, Stainless Steel Tube Manufacturing, and Welding Wire. His contributions were instrumental to Combustions success in the power systems field. In addition to his career at Combustion, Michael's second career was in the Navy as an officer in WWII rank LT(JG) and later retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves as a Captain. He was also instrumental as the liaison in Chattanooga Combustions role with Admiral Rickover's implementation of nuclear power in its naval fleet. He is an alumni of St. Leos Academy in Florida and the University of Tennessee. After retiring, Michael put his love and passion into cultivating varieties of figs from around the world. He shared his immense compassion and knowledge, touching the lives of many people throughout the years. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul's Basilica. Michael is survived by his wife, Charlyne; three children, Michael Paul, John Timothy (Francesca), and Marjorie Ann; six grandchildren, Kimberly Paige, Michael Casey (Kimberly Ann), Timara Michelle Frassrand; and Kristina, Wesley and Matthew Cameron; and great-grandchild, Maya Frassrand. A special thanks to Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for the loving care and support. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, officiated by Father Charlie Burton and Monsignor George Schmidt Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital.
