Gilbert Dake

Gilbert "Gil" Dake, 65, of Hixson, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, in Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was born in Sweetwater, Tenn., resident most of his life of Chattanooga, former resident of Mt. Airy, N.C. and preceded in death by his father, Wilse Gilbert Dake on May 9, 1995. He was a formerly with Buster Brown and Cross Creek Apparel and was former owner operator of Signs By Tomorrow in Chattanooga. He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church, a veteran of the National Guard, was very active in the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Survivors: wife of 42 years, Kathy Miller Dake, of Hixson; daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Jason Bennett, of High Point, N.C.; son, Jeremy Dake, of Hixson; grandson, Will Dake; three granddaughters, Kaylie Dake, Amber Bennett, and Lillie Dake; mother, Alene Langford Dake, of Athens, Tenn.; sister and brother-in-law, Debby and Scotty Hannah, of Athens, Tenn.; two nieces, Amy Hannah and Christy Hannah; two nephews, Bob Hannah and Scott Hannah. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Dakes name to the Baroness Foundation, 975 E. Third St., Chattanooga, TN 37403.
