Mickey Walker

Mickey W. Walker, 66, of Hixson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1947 in Chattanooga to the late Kenner and Eunice Walker. Mr. Walker was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran with a rank of GMG3 and was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a member of the Swiftboat Association. He was also a member of the Local #72 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union in Atlanta. He was retired from the U.S. Postal service. He was a member of Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle and the Golden Agers. His brother-in-law, Mike Young preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Glenda Walker; sisters, Marlene (Jim) Holdbrooks, of East Brainerd; Kathy Young, of Soddy Daisy; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday in the North Chapel with Rev. David Stancil officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the compassionate care given.
