Jessie Denton

Jessie Raymond Denton, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was 89 years old. Jessie was born on Jan. 2, 1925 to the late Carroll and Ruth Byars Denton. He served our country during World War II in the U. S. Navy. Jessie retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad with over 37 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Vera Nadine Denton. Jessie is survived by his son, Jack Denton; granddaughter and her husband, Jayne Anne and Blair Hutchins; sisters, Allene Denton and Marie Quinn. The family will receive friends from noon to 2:30 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Services for Jessie will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
