Estelle Ellis

Edith Estelle Adams Ellis, 80, of Chattanooga, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014. She was born Jan. 1, 1934, in New Orleans, La., daughter of the late Loyal Gardner Adams Sr. and Margaret Lee Watson Adams. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Ellis. Mrs. Ellis was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed painting and she was known for her singing. Mrs. Ellis was a very vivacious person, with a natural generosity that was evident by her giving spirit and willingness to help anyone with anything. She always took pride in her appearance. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy she was especially close to Taylor, because she was able to keep him when he was young. Survivors include her children, Fred Ellis Jr., Elaine Ellis Siniard and husband, Mark, Doug Ellis and wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Matthew (Erica) Vandegriff, Lee (Casey) Smith, Blaine (Shelby) Vandegriff, Caitlin Ellis and Brennan Ellis; great-grandchildren Taylor, Anna, Lila, Jackson, Olivia, Reece, Brock and Roman; sister, Betty Lyle; brothers, Loyal Gardner Adams Jr. and Charles E. Adams; many nieces and nephews; many grand cats and dogs. Memorial services will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 8, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
