Sherman Adair

Sherman Farris Adair Sr., 83, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, he was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean War, and a former employee of Chemical Leman where he worked for 15 years as a diesel mechanic. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jean Adair; son, Sherman Farris Adair Jr.; parents, Jessie F. Adair Sr. and Myrtle Akins Adair; and sister, Mildred Mullins. Sherman is survived by his wife, Margaret Lane Adair, of Ringgold; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Adair, of Ringgold; three sisters, Barbara Dolnik, of Texas, Virginia Glenn, of Huntsville, Ala., and Margaret Hall, of Fort Oglethorpe; brother, Jessie F. Adair Jr., of Panama City, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Bryant and Rev. Michael Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until funeral time at the funeral home.
