Ivola Newson

Mother Ivola Newson, 83, was born to Early and Laura Pollard in Cedartown, Ga. She was the last survivor of nine siblings. She departed this life on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. She was a faithful member of Zerubbabel Holy Temple under the leadership of Pastor Tommy Williams Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. Mother Newson is survived by her husband, Mr. Willie Newson; daughters, Willie Rosezetta (Preston) Price, Susie A. (Gary) Mengo, Sylvia A. Newson; sons, Willie C. Newson, Johnny R. Newson and Timothy C. (Sharon) Newson, all of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at United Tabernacle COGIC. The body will lie in state at the church from noon 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Elder Ronnie Powe Sr. officiating and eulogist, Pastor Tommy Williams Sr. Interment: Hamilton Memorial Gardens. She will lie in state today after noon at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
