Virginia Settles

Virginia Lee Settles, 85, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in a local hospital. Born in Nashville, she moved with her family to Chattanooga as a child and attended City High and the University of Chattanooga, where she met her future husband Don. She lived most of her adult life on Lookout Mountain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Settles; sisters, Beth Hiltz and Ellen Marshall; and brother, Bob Lee. She is survived by her sons, Greg (Helen), of Nolensville, Tenn., and Mark (Becky), of Flat Rock, Ala.; daughter Sue Settles of Atlanta; grandsons, Adam Settles, of Houston, Texas, and Tyler Settles, of Auburn, Ala.; sisters, Billie Lockwood and Sharon Turman; and brother, Richard Lee. Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimers Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
