Ida Nichols

Ida B. Nichols, 98, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. She was born and raised in Scottsboro, Ala., to Herbert and Edith Gattis. She retired from M.A. Hodes Co. after 20 years of service and was a former member of White Oak Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ira Plemons; second husband, Howard T. Nichols; and seven brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughter, Gail Yvonne Keel; granddaughters, Betsye Wood, of Mooreland, Ga., Rhonda Gueye and Michelle Daniels, both of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Tyler Keel, Chelsie Johnson and Ryan Bradshaw, all of Chattanooga, Mary Wood, Benjamin Wood and Amanda Wood, all of Mooreland, Ga.; great-great grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Chanan and Katie; brother, Ed Gattis; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at the funeral home.
