Louise Chadburn

LaFAYETTE Louise Helene Caroline Behrmann Chadburn, 97, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. Mrs. Chadburn was born Sept. 25, 1916, to the late John H.M. and Anna Maria Nager Behrmann. She was a 1935 graduate of Edison High School, and a graduate of Sherman's Business School, both in Mount Vernon, N.Y. She was Sorority president of Theta Sigma Alpha. She worked for the USO for service men in and around World War II; she was secretary to superintendent of schools in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. and medical department secretary to Dr. Dederer, also in Mt. Vernon, secretary in E.T. Barwick Mills in the custom Division, telephone operator in the Archer Division and a secretary at Northwest Georgia Mental Health Center. Mrs. Chadburn loved gardening, quilting and photography. She also loved to travel and to keep in touch with family and friends by sending birthday and get well cards. She enjoyed watching sports, feeding and watching birds and cared for dogs, cats and rabbits. She was Senior Chair president at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, president of Church Women at the LaFayette Presbyterian and Ascension Lutheran Churches, Sunday school teacher for 16 years, PTA president at North LaFayette Elementary School, president of the PTA Council of Northwest Georgia, Den Mother of Cub Scout Den #47, president of the League of Women Voters of LaFayette. AARP president the local chapter #2484 and #3751. She kept an attractive and friendly home where everyone was always welcome. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel "Automotive Sam" Chadburn; infant daughter, Joanne Carol Chadburn; sister, Auguste B. Winters; and a brother, William J. Behrmann. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Nancy Louise Chadburn, of Boston, Mass.; son, Richard William (Brenda M.) Chadburn of Sevierville, Tenn.; grandson, Samuel Shane Chadburn; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at LaFayette First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Hagen and Rev. Clay Seneker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to LaFayette First United Methodist Church at 301 S.
